柚子( ゆず / yuzu )

柚子の歴史上の初出は『続日本記』。奈良平安時代前後に遣隋使・遣唐使による大陸との交流のなかで伝わった柑橘類と考えられます。
以来日本人の生活のなかで親しまれ、冬至の柚子風呂の習慣、果皮や果汁使う調理法等が受け継がれています。冬の季語。
YUZU first appeared in "Shoku-Nihongi" in japanese history. It were brought by envoys to Tang China during the Nara~Heian period.
Since then, YUZU has been familiar to japanese people through the ages, for example , as YUZU-bath、as a aroma-ingredient. And" YUZU" is a kigo (=seasonal word) of winter.

紫蘇( しそ / siso)
シソ科
Perilla frutescens
紫蘇は古くから日本人に利用されてきた植物のひとつ。縄文時代の遺跡にも、種の跡が発見されたそうです。種類が多く、日本全土に分布。高さ20~30センチで全草に芳香があります。天ぷらや刺身のつま、漬け物など、日本料理のなかで楽しまれるハーブ。夏の季語。
SISO is a kind of herbs, has been used by japanese people through
the ages. It's seeds were discovered from ruins of the Jomon period.
There are lots of kinds ,20-30 cm in height, and it is cultivated in the whole country. It's good in japanese dishes, TEMPURA、TUMA of SASIMI , TUKEMONO( ≒ pickles ) ,and so on.
"SISO" is a kigo (=seasonal word) of summer.
